CGS Entertainment

CGS Entertainment Inc. was founded in 1998 as a full service entertainment agency; services include bookings, production/recording and sound reinforcement. Since the company’s incorporation, sub-divisions of the company have been created to focus on different services, there-by guaranteeing the best, most efficient work and the highest level of satisfaction. Urban Jazz Contemporary Records was created to focus on all business regarding studio production and has grown into a full service record label and production hall; DLJ productions was formed to handle all sound reinforcement and contracting services; and lastly, Book It 4 Us was created in order to handle all booking needs (talent evaluation, artist negotiation, etc.). Gwen Scales

Meet Gwendolyn Scales, Vice-President and Co-founder of CGS Entertainment. Educated at Wayne State University and Marygrove College, Mrs. Scales
is our go to expert for all of our administrative needs. She represents our vocal talent and songwriting arm of the record label UJC Records, and is also currently signed to Expansion records of London, England. Her songs and music are licensed in the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia- listen to some of her music at www.lastfm.com. In addition to her extensive work with CGS, Mrs. Scales also serves as Secretary and Commissioner for the Detroit Entertainment Commission, and is the founder and owner of One Step Ahead, a non-profit organization geared towards helping students find resources to fund their college educations.

Charles Scales

Meet Charles Scales, President and Co-founder of CGS Entertainment. An alumni of the University of Michigan, he received his education in composition and arranging and chose to continue his musical knowledge by studying studio engineering at the Recording Institute of Detroit. For years he served as staff producer and account executive for Paragon Records, and staff producer of commercial jingles for Oracle Audio before co-creating his own recording studio in the heart of downtown Detroit, Loft Recording Studios. Today, he splits his time and talents between owning and producing for his own recording label, UJC Records and making CGS one of the most prestigious booking agencies in the state. His insight and practical knowledge of studio and stage performance, talent evaluation, studio production, live sound, contract negotiations and more makes him the number one go to guy for your music booking needs.

Briana Scales

Meet Briana Scales; an account executive at CGS entertainment, she holds a BA in Music and a BA in Psychology from Kalamazoo College and a MS in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. She also holds a graduate certificate in Business Management from the Rollins Crummer School of Business.

Musically, Briana is a classically trained vocalist and instrumentalist, playing the cello and piano. She delved into the music business at a young age, creating her first string quartet in the 6th grade that played around the Detroit area for many weddings and government functions. During her undergraduate study, she founded and music-directed two acapella ensembles. Briana has also been an instructor of private music lessons and theory and aural comprehension classes, as well as summer music camps.

Alongside her position at CGS, Briana is the Development Manager at the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, where her duties include grant writing, fundraising, special events, and donor relations.
Dwayne Jones

Meet one of our Engineering experts, our “go to” guy Dwayne Jones! Dwayne has mixed sound for everyone in the business. A snapshot of who he's worked with- Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Lil Wayne, The Temptations, 50 Cent, The Four Tops, Nicki Minaj, Kemistry Records (Kem Kemistry)- and so many more! See what we mean? Yep, he's an expert.

Lauren Scales

Meet Lauren Scales, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and our second account executive for CGS. Lauren holds a degree in Jazz Studies and has been involved in the business of music for most of her life. While in college she also served as Fundraising Chair for her collegiate section of the National Council of Negro-Women, spear-headed an all-women a Capella group, and lead her own praise team. She also currently directs the Second Stage Singers program at Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit. She's our expert in training.
